The man who became the “father” of the Indian IT industry and revolutionized it was, in fact, a Pakistani.
Many refer to Faqir Chand Kohli, who was born in Peshawar, Pakistan, in 1924, as the founder of the Indian IT sector. He was a standout student who graduated with honors from Government College in Lahore with a BA and BSc (Honors) before going on to the esteemed Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to get a master’s degree in power engineering. Gobindram Kohli is the proprietor of a small firm.
After joining the Tata Group in 1951, he founded Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which has since expanded to become the biggest and most valuable IT company in India, with J.R.D. Tata serving as his mentor.
