ISLAMABAD: According to a report published Saturday by The News, the Ministry of Defence has requested an increased civil service quota for its injured and disabled officers.
The targeted allocation is in addition to the existing 10% quota for armed forces officers in civil service provided by the Federal Public Service Commission.
The ministry made the request in a letter to the Establishment Division, according to the publication.
It pointed to a previous letter dated March 29, 2023, which requested that the injured military commanders be inducted into the Commerce and Trade Group or the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service.
According to the military ministry, many young officers across the country have grown physically crippled as a result of the war on terror during the last two decades.
Because of their physical disabilities, they are unable to perform to their full potential in the army, and due to a lack of medical fitness, they are unable to be inducted into the 10% quota.
The Establishment Division has once again been asked to investigate, including war-disabled officers in several professional service groups, including the Security Group, notably for postings in the Ministry of Defense.
