In May 2019, Steve Dymond, 63, was discovered dead at his Portsmouth, Hampshire, home, seven days after he failed a lie detector test while filming the TV show.
He was charged with betraying his former fiancée. He felt that a test on the Jeremy Kyle show would demonstrate to her that this was untrue.
Winchester Coroner’s Court heard on the second day of a thorough inquest that Mr. Dymond’s death was caused by a confluence of left ventricular hypertrophy and morphine overdose.
The hearing was heard that he had taken overdoses four times before, in January 1995, twice in December 2002, and April 2005. He was given a depressive illness diagnosis in 1995.
According to testimony given in court, he attempted suicide once more in 2002.
After a mental health assessment in September 2005, which led to his sectioning, it was determined that he was at “risk of suicide.”.
