Following a business trip to Denmark and Sweden, Juan Cifuentes, 33, and Farooq Abdulrazak, 37, did not return home, and in July, their whereabouts were reported.
Earlier this month, Swedish authorities verified that the two British people whose bones were discovered in the car’s wreckage were indeed theirs.
Swedish prosecutors claim that both the UK and Sweden are still conducting investigations.
The prosecutor has detained a person on suspicion of assisting and abetting the murder of two British citizens who were discovered dead in a burned-out automobile in Malmo on July 14, according to a statement released by the police.
Interrogations with the suspect and other people will now take place.
The chief of the preliminary inquiry, Magnus Pettersson, stated that prosecutors have till Sunday to determine whether or not to keep the suspect in jail.
The two Brits, according to a friend, were “role models” in their communities.
According to the buddy, Mr. Cifuentes had a wife and two children, ages eight and three, while Mr. Abdulrazak had recently tied the knot.
The acquaintance who called the travel company Empire Holidays “their dream job” said the two were business partners.
