ISLAMABAD Pakistan has chosen to christen a new Islamabad expressway after the name of the friendly nation as a show of support for Iran, The News said on Monday.
The choice was made in advance of Iranian President Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi’s formal visit to Pakistan, which is scheduled for April 22–24. This would be the first head of state to visit Pakistan since the general elections on February 8.
The sources state that Eleventh Avenue will henceforth be known as Iran Avenue by the federal government. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) summary was decided upon by the cabinet and distributed.
It should be mentioned that the CDA initiated the development of Eleventh Avenue.
It was first extended in phase one from Sector D-12 to the northeast corner of E-11, where an interchange was also built on the Khayaban Iqbal. It will be extended to IJ Principal Road in phase two.
The visit of President Raisi
The Iranian president is set to arrive in Islamabad today for a three-day official visit to Pakistan, marking a significant milestone in diplomatic relations.
Raisi will travel with his spouse and a high-level delegation that includes top officials, a sizable business delegation, the foreign minister, and other cabinet members.
