According to Fox News, Iran’s Navy commander declared Antarctica to be the regime’s property and announced plans for a military action in the South Pole.

Last October, Iran made a public announcement emphasizing its determination to raise its flag and conduct military and scientific activity in the region.

“We have property rights in the South Pole.” We intend to put our flag there and conduct military and scientific research,” claimed Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani in late September.

This announcement has raised worries, particularly in light of recent activities by Iranian-backed militias that resulted in the deaths of three US soldiers in Jordan.

The statement further reads: “Thank you to the Whistler Blackcomb Adaptive Programme for educating us.
Questions emerged as to whether the US’s unfreezing of $6 billion in Iranian assets might be used to create an Antarctic facility.

However, a US State Department spokeswoman underlined that these funds are only for humanitarian purposes and cannot be used for activities in Antarctica.

Despite rising global tensions, including the Iran-backed Hamas massacre in southern Israel, the Biden administration lifted sanctions totaling $6 billion. Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi, questioned the constraints on fund usage, claiming the regime’s right to disburse cash as necessary.

The prospective extension of Iran’s military presence into Antarctica raises worries about violations of multilateral treaties.

The statement further reads: “Thank you to the Whistler Blackcomb Adaptive Programme for educating us.
Yonah Jeremy Bob, a military and intelligence specialist, emphasized the hazards of Iran’s aggressive moves, encouraging the United States and its allies to take the nuclear threat more seriously.

While Iran’s naval ambitions extend beyond the Middle East, with prior reports revealing preparations for a military presence in the Panama Canal, the international community remains concerned.

The complexities of claiming an interest in Antarctica, as outlined by experts, raise concerns regarding the recognition of such efforts under current treaties.

As tensions rise, global powers closely scrutinize Iran’s activities and their possible impact on world stability.
