DUBAI: According to Iran’s foreign ministry spokeswoman and state media, Anwar Gargash, the president of the United Arab Emirates’ diplomatic adviser, handed a letter from US President Donald Trump to Iran’s religious establishment on Wednesday.
Trump has warned that “there are two ways Iran can be handled: militarily, or you make a deal” that stops Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He claimed to have written to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, last week, offering to negotiate a nuclear agreement.
The supreme authority in Iranian state affairs, Khamenei, quickly retorted that Tehran would not be coerced into negotiations by “excessive demands” and threats.
