It has been confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will pay an official visit to Pakistan from April 22–24, starting today, Monday.
The visit by Raisi, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level entourage that includes the foreign minister and other cabinet members, senior officials, and a sizable business delegation, will mark the first time that a head of state has visited Islamabad following the polls on February 8.
The News, citing Interior Ministry sources, stated that the FO confirmed the visit on Monday, following the completion of a thorough security plan for President Raisi’s visit. Members of his security team had been to Pakistan to assess the actions taken by the Pakistani authorities.
The National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA), intelligence services, and practically all law enforcement agencies would help to guarantee a calm environment during the guest’s visit, according to sources who also mentioned that because of the tensions between Iran and Israel.
According to the publication, in addition to temporary internet shutdown during the dignitary’s visit, other stringent security measures include air monitoring.
The FO claims that the guest will meet with key Pakistani authorities, such as Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as well as provincial leadership, during his visit.
