Despite the introduction of new levies under Budget 2025, including an automatic increase in the Carbon Tax, fuel costs in Ireland have decreased once more this October.
Diesel prices down 1 cent to €1.66 per litre, while the average price of petrol fell 2 cents to €1.72 per litre, according to AA Ireland. Fuel costs have been falling for the past three months.
Crude oil’s declining price, which is currently at about $74 per barrel, is the main cause of this reduction. The market has been fairly stable, despite the fact that global tensions—such as the current Middle East wars and the Russian invasion of Ukraine—usually cause oil prices to rise.
The price reduction is also helping owners of electric vehicles (EVs).
