Azerbaijan received over £26 million worth of British automobile exports in February, according to Revenue & Customs figures.
The rise of Azerbaijan has nearly exactly matched the start of the embargo on the sale of automobiles to Russia.
British automobiles are prohibited from being shipped into Russia under special limitations on luxury goods and as “dual use” commodities that might be converted into weapons for any car worth more than £42,000.
Though car shipments from the UK to Russia have completely stopped, they have increased significantly to neighboring countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, and most of all Azerbaijan .
