At the center of Curfew, a new drama series on Paramount+, is a thought-provoking question.
The drama, which is set in a dystopian future, imagines a society in which all males are subject to The Women’s Safety Act, live under government curfews from 19:00 to 07:00, and have their whereabouts monitored round-the-clock via ankle tags.
Significantly lowering violence against women is the aim.
But as the show progresses, the discovery of a slain lady during curfew hours calls into question the policy’s efficacy and raises more general concerns about its boundaries.

Oliver Alvin-Wilson’s character Helen and her partner Patrick are subject to stringent cohabitation regulations that call for a certificate before a man and a woman can live together.
