ISLAMABAD: In anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) scheduled public demonstration at Sangjani area today, the Islamabad administration on Sunday placed security on red alert and closed down several arteries heading to the federal capital.
The relevant authority has instructed the police officers to stay inside their assigned territory, provide all necessary equipment to the staff who are on duty, and make sure that cell phones are not utilized while on duty.
In the meantime, authorities in Sangjani have located a suspicious bag close to the PTI meeting location. Police reported that they had found a hand grenade, detonator, electric wires, and other explosive materials within the bag.
The bomb disposal squad was on scene, according to the police, and an investigation was being conducted.
