The 2.3 million people living in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) need 126 million gallons of drinking water every day, which has resulted in an unprecedented water deficit.
There is a big shortage in satisfying the city’s needs because the Capital Development Authority (CDA) only provides 70 to 80 million gallons per day at the moment.
The CDA has failed to fill the gap in the water supply even with 201 tube wells and three dams (Khanpur Dam, Rawal Dam, and Smallley Dam).
The CDA has announced plans for Shahdara Dam and Chinyot Dam, two new dam projects that are anticipated to be finished in the next four years, in response to the situation.
