Reiterating that no one can sow discord between the two nations, Islamabad has promised Beijing that Chinese nationals working on various projects in Pakistan will receive impenetrable protection.
The guarantee was given on Sunday at the Chinese Embassy in the nation’s capital during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong.
Prime Minister Shehabaz Sharif’s recent visit to China was addressed by both parties, and a thorough conversation was had regarding the steps taken to ensure the security of Chinese nationals living in Pakistan as well as the advancement of Pakistan-China relations.
The interior minister stated that Pakistan has always received support from China’s top leadership and that the prime minister’s recent visit has enhanced ties with China.
He briefed the Chinese envoy on the steps being taken to safeguard Chinese nationals around the nation, particularly in Islamabad.
In addition, Naqvi gave him an update on the security protocol for Chinese workers and engineers involved in the CPEC and other projects.
According to him, detailed and functional SOPs have been developed for the protection of Chinese nationals, and an independent unit known as the “SPU” is being established in Islamabad just for foreigners.
The Pakistani government’s first concern, according to the interior minister, is safeguarding the Chinese brethren who are contributing to the country’s growth and progress.
