Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), expressed hope on Saturday that the Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill 2024, also referred to as the madrassa registration bill, will be approved by the federal government following the completion of the necessary legal procedures.
“I hope that neither we will need to march on Islamabad nor [the government] will require a joint session,” the JUI-F emir stated during an appearance on the “Jirga” show on Geo News.
Fazl made these remarks after the government allegedly “accepted all demands of the Ittehad Tanzeemat-e-Madaris Deenia (ITMD)” on the controversial madrassa registration bill after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the head of the JUI-F met.
According to sources close to the JUI-F, the development occurred during PM Shehbaz’s meeting with a delegation led by Fazl one day ago.
