RAWALPINDI: According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) report on Saturday, military courts have sentenced 25 participants in the May 9, 2023, attacks on state installations to 2–10 years in prison.
Regarding the suspects who used violence during the May 9 demonstrations, the military’s media wing stated that “Field General Court Martial (FGCM) have in [the] first phase promulgated the punishments to 25 accused.”
Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested in connection with a graft case, which sparked the protests. As a result, numerous PTI employees were taken into custody, and over 100 civilians are awaiting military trials.
The party, however, insists that it was not involved in any of the events involving military sites, including as the assault on General Headquarters (GHQ), and
