Four dead Israeli hostages whose bodies were turned over by Hamas in return for the release of Palestinian captives have had their identities verified by Israel through forensic testing.
Hamas sent four coffins from Gaza to the Red Cross on Wednesday evening. The corpses of Shlomo Mansour, 86, Ohad Yahalomi, 50, Tsachi Idan, 50, and Itzik Elgarat, 69, were found there, Israel’s prime minister said Thursday. He also claimed that all four men had been murdered.
The transfer made it possible for nearly 600 Palestinian detainees and prisoners to be released after a delay.
There are still unanswered questions regarding what will happen after the final exchange of the six-week-long first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
