According to sources, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have pushed around 25 kilometers southwest of Damascus, indicating an invasion into Syrian territory close to Qatana.
According to an IDF official quoted by Jpost, the Israel Army rejected reports that forces had crossed the buffer zone, claiming the operation was carried out inside the demilitarized zone.
In a similar development, tensions in the area increased when Israeli tanks were observed some 20 kilometers from Damascus. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) conducted a major operation on Syrian naval assets in the meanwhile. Many Syrian warships, including those carrying sea-to-sea missiles, were destroyed by Israeli naval missile ships near the port of Latakia and the Mina al-Bayda region. The IDF affirmed that the goal of the operation was to keep Syria’s naval resources out of the hands of adversaries.
