On Wednesday, images from social media showed the FedEx Express Boeing 767 descending with only its back landing gear before sinking its nose onto the tarmac.
The ministry said in a statement that the pilots used the tower’s instructions to land the aircraft. It also added that, because of the communications, airport rescue and firefighting teams could complete the required preparations on the runway prior to landing.
Within 20 seconds of the plane coming to a stop, footage shows first responders on the ground sprinkling water on the tarmac and at the aircraft.
Turkey’s minister of infrastructure and transportation, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, stated that no one was hurt and that the crew had safely departed the plane.
