Despite tensions over humanitarian supplies and uncertainty over the number of inmates scheduled for release on Saturday, the Palestinian organization Hamas said Thursday that a crisis that may derail the ceasefire agreement in Gaza could be avoided.
Amid allegations of violations on both sides of the agreement reached last month with the assistance of US support and mediators from Qatar and Egypt, the 42-day truce has looked on the verge of collapse this week.
Although it denounced what it described as the “language of threats and intimidation” from U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hamas stated that it did not want the agreement to fall through.
They have stated that if the Israeli captives are not freed, the ceasefire should be canceled.
