Pakistan is one of the nations on the Italian government’s list of high-risk countries for migrant visa fraud, which is why the country will begin enforcing stricter regulations in 2025.
This occurs at a time when Italy is experiencing a severe caregiver shortage due to an aging population and falling birth rates.
Italy responded to this problem by announcing on Wednesday that it will award 10,000 more migrant work permits for the elderly and disabled in the upcoming year. This additional quota is a component of a larger set of immigration policies meant to alleviate labor shortages.
In addition to the 452,000 work visas previously announced for the 2023–2025 period, the “experimental” quota for caregivers represents an almost 150% increase over the previous three years.
