In a significant move, the government was urged to publish a gazette notice for the Societies Registration (Amendment) Act 2024 by the Ittehad Tanzimat Madaris Deenia (ITMD), a federation of the primary madrassa monitoring bodies.
Speaking at a press conference after Monday’s ITMD supreme council meeting, the organization’s top leadership emphasized that the bill was sent to the president’s house once it was approved in its final form and that the president’s objections were rendered moot after the allotted time had passed.
President Asif Ali Zardari’s worries that seminaries would be registered under the Societies Act if the madrassa bill becomes law gave rise to the debate two days ago.
