Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan decided to reschedule the planned dharna in Islamabad for July 26 on Thursday.
JI Pakistan Amir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman criticized the government for not helping the people in spite of strong accusations during a news conference in Lahore.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman emphasized the financial strain on the populace by pointing out that despite having paid $42 billion in taxes and power bills, Pakistanis felt ignored in return.
“If the government wishes to avoid protests, it must alleviate the burdens on the populace,” he said.
The intended dharna to protest rising petrol and energy costs on July 12 has been rescheduled for July 26.
Furthermore, Hafiz claims that Jamaat-e-Islami is considering a statewide protest to force the government to reevaluate its taxation policies. There is a great deal of unhappiness due to the ongoing crisis, which has been made worse by rising electricity rates and taxes that are purportedly being imposed at the behest of international financial institutions.
