Jared Isaacman was appointed to head the National Aeronautics and Space Administration by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday.
Isaacman, who has been linked to Elon Musk and his space company SpaceX for years, is the CEO of Shift4 Payments, a payment processing company. He also manages Polaris, a program that uses SpaceX vehicles to carry out private astronaut missions in orbit.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that Jared will lead NASA’s mission of inspiration and discovery, opening the door for ground-breaking advancements in space science, technology, and exploration.
If confirmed, Isaacman will be in charge of a $25 billion organization primarily dedicated to sending people back to the moon through the Artemis program.
