ISLAMABAD In a significant move, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) appointed nine justices to the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) constitutional benches on Monday by a vote of eleven to four.
Yahya Afridi, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), presided over the JCP’s third meeting under the 26th Constitutional Amendment at the highest court in Islamabad.
The creation of constitutional benches with the SHC was the only item on the agenda.
“The commission examined the creation of constitutional benches in SHC and approved the names of nine judges with a majority of 11 to 4 for a period of two months after a thorough and deliberate exchange of views,” the Supreme Court said in a statement.
