ISLAMABAD: According to The News, Yahya Afrid, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), has called a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) to select eight new justices to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court conference room is scheduled to host the meeting on February 11 at 2:00 PM. To fill the eight vacancies, five senior judges—including the chief justices of all high courts—will be considered.
In addition to creating a seven-member constitutional bench last year, CJP Afridi reorganized the highest court in accordance with the 26th Amendment.
According to the 26th Amendment to the Constitution, the Judicial Commission has 13 members. It is the responsibility of the judicial commission to select justices for the Supreme Court, lower courts.
