With the backing of the business community, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has declared a nationwide strike that will begin on August 28.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Quetta Press Club, he emphasized the importance of democracy in political parties.
Major parties, according to the head of JI, suffer from internal politics and lack democracy. He asserted that parties need to reform in order for democracy to thrive.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also discussed the nation’s many challenges, such as the issues facing the Balochistani people, growing inflation, and land grabs in the region.
He described the electricity costs as “inhumane” and said that even Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has acknowledged that the bills were unaffordable for the average person and businessman.
