Despite persistent rumors about his health, US President asserted that the bloc was “more powerful than ever” in a strong and decisive speech.
At the time of the speech, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was getting stronger, and Donald Trump, Joe Biden’s presidential opponent, was still making vague threats that the US would quit NATO if he won in November.
“Putin wants nothing less, nothing less, than Ukraine’s total subjugation… and to wipe Ukraine off the map,” Biden stated.
The main focus of the NATO meeting will be fresh promises to support Ukraine militarily and humanitarianally.
To safeguard Ukrainian cities, citizens, and soldiers, Mr. Biden and the leaders of Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Romania have pledged to install five more Patriot and other strategic air defense systems.
Additional defense-enhancing systems will be supplied by the UK, Canada, Norway, Spain, and other partners.
Mr. Biden continued, “This is a critical time for Europe and the transatlantic community, and I might add to it.”
