During a family gathering at his mother’s Long Island home on Sunday, Joseph DeLucia Jr. murdered his three siblings, Joanne Kearns, Frank DeLucia, and Tina Hammond, as well as Ms. Hammond’s daughter, Victoria Hammond.
About 15 miles (24 km) east of New York City, in Syosset, DeLucia Jr., 59, met the others, according to Nassau County Police Captain Stephen Fitzpatrick on Monday.
Three days had passed since Theresa DeLucia, who passed away last week at the age of 95, was buried.
But the car mechanic killed the others with 12 shots from a shotgun, rather than talking about the intended sale of the house where DeLucia Jr. had spent his whole childhood.
Captain Fitzpatrick stated that he then turned the gun on himself after going out into the front lawn and “shouting indiscriminately” about what he had just done. DeLucia believed that he was being cut out of the will and that he would be displaced with nowhere to go.
