Earlier this month, Trump made the claim that Harris declined to invite Shapiro because he is Jewish, which may have turned off Muslim voters in crucial swing states who are already furious about how the Biden-Harris administration has handled Israel’s conflict in Gaza.
“If you look, they are really horrible to Jewish people. Regarding Harris and Democrats, Trump stated, “What they’ve done, and the way they talk, and their policy, and everything else.”
In response, Shapiro stated that Trump is “trying to further divide Americans by using me and other Jews as leverage.
There was not the slightest hint of antisemitism during my conversation with the vice president. Not at all. Additionally, it is true that antisemitism exists in our nation, in our commonwealth, and in certain sections of our party. We must condemn this and speak out against it,” he stated.
200 Jewish staff members called for a formal investigation of antisemitism in the newsroom, but the chair denied their plea.
This week in Chicago, at the Democratic National Convention, Harris and Walz will formally receive the Democratic nomination. Harris will close the gathering on Thursday, with Walz speaking on Wednesday night.
