ISLAMABAD: Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail of the Supreme Court stated on Wednesday that the judges who preside over military tribunals are subject to the appropriate authorities.
The comments were made at an intra-court plea hearing about civilian trials in military courts.
The hearings were being conducted by a seven-member constitutional bench, which was presided over by Justice Aminuddin Khan and included Justices Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Musarrat Hilali, and Naeem Akhtar Afghan.
Justice Hilali questioned whether an investigation was conducted prior to the allegations being framed at the beginning of the session. In response, Justice Mazhar stated that official charges were brought after investigations were completed.
Khawaja Haris, the attorney for the defense ministry, stated that the law makes a clear distinction between a trial and a fair trial.
