A judge postponed the decision on whether to depose Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and instead ordered the release of court documents pertaining to the divorce proceedings of special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who is in charge of the Georgia case involving election meddling against former President Donald Trump.
Judge Henry Thompson of Cobb County, Georgia Superior Court declared that he was overturning an earlier decision that sealed the divorce proceedings’ documents. That is what Michael Roman, a former Trump campaign staffer and White House aide, is represented by attorney Ashleigh Merchant, had requested the court to do.
“I conclude that the previous order was improperly entered despite coming from consenting parties because uniform superior court rules necessitate a hearing. We
Since there is no proof that such a hearing ever took place, I will grant the motion and revoke the consent order that sealed the record. I’ll carry that out today. I’ve got your official directive,” Thompson stated. At that point, the judge declared that Merchant could leave the hearing.
Later, Thompson spoke with Willis’s attorney, Cinque Axam, and said the court would not rule on whether the Fulton County DA would be deposed just yet. Although the judge stated he wants to hear directly from Nathan Wade regarding claims of an extramarital affair during an evidentiary hearing in the divorce case scheduled for January 31, Willis’ deposition was originally scheduled for Tuesday.

“I believe that Mr. Wade would be the most reliable and initial source of information regarding his earnings and spending patterns. Additionally, he would be directly aware of whether he is having an extramarital affair,” Thompson stated. “Only after I hear what Mr. Wade has to say, do I think I can make a determination of whether the proposed deponent has any unique knowledge about these issues, because once again, this is a math problem, and we need to find a solution to.”
