ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s recent extradition of an alleged Daesh commander, Mohammad Sharifullah, to the United States was reviewed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday during the hearing of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s repatriation case.
The health and return to Pakistan of Dr. Aafia were the main topics of the hearing. While petitioner Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui and Dr. Aafia’s American counsel attended via video link, the additional attorney general (AAG) also made an appearance before the court.
“You claim that there is no prisoner exchange agreement with the US, yet you handed over a person to them without any agreement,” Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan asked the AAG during the hearing. Additionally, you were permitted to give an in-camera briefing about the extradition of Dr. Shakil Afridi.
