Defense Minister Khawaja Asif emphasized on Wednesday that the judiciary’s support is essential for the federal government in enforcing financial discipline following a meeting between the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Asif stated on the National Assembly floor that the meeting between the top court’s jurist and the IMF delegation was held with mutual consent between the two parties, adding, “It [judiciary] could have refused the meeting, however, the judiciary held the meeting [with the IMF delegation] on its own.”
