The assistant attorney general (AAG) has been instructed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to furnish the federal government with documentary support concerning a petition that seeks Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release and repatriation.
The hearing, which was presided over by Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, was attended by petitioner’s attorney Imran Shafiq, AAG, and court-appointed amicus curiae Zainab Janjua.
“I cannot imagine the federal government rejecting the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office,” Justice Ishaq said during the hearing.
He directed the AAG to make sure a copy is given to the court and to respond to attorney Clive Smith’s declaration by Thursday.
