DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema has been transferred immediately due to the increasing number of fatalities in Karachi caused by careless dumper truck accidents.
The Sindh government appointed Pir Muhammad Shah as the new DIG Traffic Karachi in response to public uproar about the rise in traffic accidents.
Cheema has been instructed to report to the Central Police Office in the interim. Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, presided over a high-level meeting when a number of stringent traffic laws were presented.
In an effort to reduce accidents brought on by unsuitable automobiles, a significant ruling requires fitness certificates for all vehicles operating in Sindh.
The hours that big dumpers are permitted to enter Karachi have also been changed; they may now only travel on city roads between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
