The hearing before the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) about a request to raise energy prices for Karachi residents by Rs 3.09 per unit is now over.
K-Electric made the proposal as part of the monthly fuel price adjustment for July, citing increased fuel expenses as the basis for the suggested increase. If allowed, the city’s energy consumers may have to pay an extra Rs 6.20 billion as a result of this modification.
Various parties, including consumer rights groups and industry associations, are concerned about the possible increase.
Inquiring as to why K-Electric’s fuel cost adjustment (FCA) is so much higher than other distribution companies’ (DISCOs’) nationwide FCAs, which have recently seen a decrease, is the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).
