The excessive heat in Karachi has shown the shortcomings of the city’s water supply infrastructure, resulting in a serious water crisis in several districts, including the central, western, and eastern regions.
The situation is particularly bad because the demand for water has increased due to the rising temperatures. Water Corporation officials claim they have not been able to resolve the issue and that it is challenging to control the scarcity without expanding the water supply.
There is a severe lack of water for residents in several parts of the central district, including FB Area, Nazimabad, North Karachi, and many other neighborhoods. several homes find it difficult to get enough water for daily needs. According to Salahuddin, the managing director (MD), the District West and many other parts of the city are also severely affected, aggravating the city’s general water problems.)
The Water Corporation has been admittedly unable to handle the growing crisis by officials. According to Salahuddin, it is difficult to alleviate the shortfall without increasing the water supply overall. “Demand for water has increased due to extreme heat,” he said.
The Water Board is working to improve water delivery and lessen the situation. However, it seems that the present measures won’t be enough to fulfill the increased demand, which is making many districts of Karachi dry and the locals more irate.
