KARACHI: Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani chastised K-Electric (KE) on Saturday for load shedding and overbilling in the city, claiming the corporation had punished residents collectively.
The problem of [power outages] is beyond our grasp, thus we have no influence over it. Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Ghani stated, “You cannot blame an entire society for the actions of one individual.
“Instead of shutting off the power to the entire area, you should find the person stealing electricity, file a formal complaint against them, and cut off their supply,” he insisted.
According to the minister, customers were required to pay inflated bills in order for the utility business to cover its losses from electricity theft.
