Despite strict government measures, pollution still suffocates people in many regions of the country. According to Sunday’s “unhealthy” air quality index (AQI), Karachi is in fourth place and Lahore is the most polluted city in the world.
Lahore’s AQI was a “hazardous” 303, according to data from the Swiss organization IQAir, while the port city’s AQI was approximately 200, which is regarded as “very unhealthy.”
The air’s PM2.5 pollution concentration was 24.2 times greater than the WHO’s recommended level.
Over the past 24 hours, Karachi’s air pollution levels have been erratic, primarily exceeding 200 around midnight before falling to 197.
