Emilia Perez star Karla Sofia Gascon recently skipped another awards show because of the controversy surrounding her troublesome and old comments.
The first-ever transgender actress to receive an Oscar nomination declined to attend the Academy Museum’s Oscar nominees’ dinner on February 25 with co-star Zoe Saldana.
Many of Gascon’s previous social media posts reappeared after she was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category, which sparked criticism.
Her fairly contentious opinions about Muslims and Islam, her remarks regarding the George Floyd case, and her criticism of the diversity of Hollywood award shows were among them.
As a result, she deactivated her X account, which was originally Twitter, and repeatedly apologized in public.
