At their house on the Isle of Colonsay, Inner Hebrides, in March 2022, 38-year-old Keir Johnston pinned his partner Grace to the ground, choked her, and flashed a knife.
Lady Drummond testified before the Glasgow High Court that Johnston choked his wife for around twenty seconds.
At first, the court declared: “She had the ability to scream.” She thought you were going to kill her and scared for her life.
“You used a lot of force. About 20 seconds passed during the strangulation. Although she didn’t lose consciousness, she thought she might have.”
The mother-of-the-bride’s attire in the 2015 wedding was the subject of an internet controversy about its color, which sent the couple into international media attention.
While it was true that some people perceived the #thedress as black and blue, others saw it as white and gold.
Known as “the dress that broke the internet,” the argument sparked interest in millions of people worldwide, including celebrities.
While Kim Kardashian, Anna Kendrick, and Katy Perry saw white and gold, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, and Taylor Swift saw black and blue.
The Johnstons even made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the United States, where they were given a luxurious trip to Grenada along with $10,000.
