Kelly Clarkson says she is not a helicopter mom, even though she thinks she has done a fantastic job raising her two children.
The Grammy winner added, “As a mother, I can be hard on myself, but I think I do a pretty good job,” in an interview with People. I’m not a helicopter mother at all.”
She went on to say, “I like that they’re independent, but I’m adamant about my schedule, making sure I’m there as much as I can be.”
Noting, “I’m definitely screwing up my kids somehow; there’s no such thing as a flawless parent! But I’m making an effort.”
Kelly disclosed in another part of the conversation that she has forbidden children from using social media until they are of a certain age.
“That can be really hard on kids in general but especially kids with parents in the public eye,” she stated.
stating, “So I have informed them they’re not allowed to, under my roof, ever have [it].”
The 41-year-old, in the meantime, said, “It’s harder at first,” adding, “There’s so much trauma and emotion involved.”
Kelly, nevertheless, claimed that things settle down in due course.
The more you say, “The easier it gets,” the more you realize how difficult it is to discipline and teach someone who is married and comes from two different backgrounds. It can be difficult to do that in several houses.”
