In an interview with Kevin Bacon on her talk show, Kelly Clarkson spoke up about her early setbacks trying to pursue a career in music. The American Idol star said that because she had no other options, she first relocated to Los Angeles to live with a “random stranger.”
Recounting her experience, Clarkson said, “I actually moved out to L.A. with some random person I did not know.” Yes, she was in need of a roommate. I said to myself, “I’ll do it.” I moved to Los Angeles from Texas with an unknown person.”
Clarkson had to spend a few days sleeping in her car when their home tragically caught fire. She then, by chance, made the decision to try out for American Idol, and the rest is history.
“It all worked out since I spent a few days sleeping in my car before trying out for the American Idol show! Life,” she exclaimed.
“I feel like everyone in this industry has some crazy thing where you’ve either lived in a car or on a mattress in someone’s house,” said the 41-year-old. “You must sincerely desire your dream. You have to genuinely want it, the universe says.”
After making the significant decision to move her family from Los Angeles to New York City, the mother of two appeared to be happier than ever. Despite her worries, Clarkson stated she desired to leave Los Angeles and start over.
Prior to the transfer, Clarkson talked candidly about having difficulties in her personal life. Regarding her show, she continued, “What’s cool for me about Season 5 is that, in addition to my kids, me, and the show, I am in such a great place.” “I sense a release of weight. It was a really necessary move. Personally, I believe that the thing about Season 5 that excites me the most is simply going to work with a smile on my face and genuinely meaning it. You don’t understand what a wonderful gift it is until you run out of it.”
