On Tuesday, Khawaja Asif, the minister of defense, emphasized the need of the media and other sectors contributing to the fight against tax cheating.
Speaking at a National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) function in Islamabad, Asif stated: “The judiciary was facing an astounding amount of cases worth Rs. 2800 billion, which was affecting the autonomy of the state.” The state’s financial stability is being undermined by tax evasion.”
He voiced his worries about the spread of illicit cigarettes in Azad Kashmir.
“They are receiving their salaries,” he said in response to allegations that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) staff members were neglected.
He admitted that voices opposing the FBR’s measures had started to surface.
