Kate Middleton has received an award from King Charles that his mother refused to give to Princess Diana.
Commentator Brian Hoey noted, “The late Queen did not permit [King Charles’s] then-wife, Princess Diana, to issue any warrants,” in reference to the importance of royal warrants. Rather, she would send handwritten notes to acknowledge exceptional service, which the recipients equally treasured.
“Princess Anne is not permitted to send warrants, even though she is, arguably, the hardest working member of the royal family.”
King Charles III has given Kate Middleton the coveted right to issue royal warrants, making her the only contemporary royal to have this position.
