Since US President Donald Trump began making remarks about Canada being the 51st state on social media, Canadians have been incensed.
Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement on Saturday of 25% tariffs on the majority of Canadian exports, Canadians have canceled trips south of the border, boycotted American wine and other products, and even jeered at sporting events.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada swiftly declared retaliatory tariffs on US imports worth C$155 billion ($107 billion). Trudeau stated that charges on the remaining C$125 billion will be imposed in 21 days, while those on C$30 billion will go into effect on Tuesday, the same day as the majority of Trump’s tariffs.
People in Canada are being urged to boycott American products by certain Facebook groups.
