ISLAMABAD: British King Charles III sent Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a formal invitation to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in October when he called him on the phone on Wednesday.
The prime minister stated that the “CHOGM in Samoa would be a significant moment in the Commonwealth’s history” upon accepting the invitation.
It would be King Charles III’s first summit as head of the Commonwealth following his coronation, according to a news release from the PM Office.
Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to the Commonwealth and the principles contained in the Commonwealth Charter.
According to him, the “CHOGM in Samoa will offer a forum to address potential for expanding intra-Commonwealth collaboration on critical issues, such as promoting democratic institutions, sustainable development, and youth empowerment in the Commonwealth.”
