Wark presented Newsnight for the news from 1993 to 2024. He worked there for almost 50 years and left this summer after more than 30 years in the role.
The BAFTA-winning journalist also revealed the details of a former colleague she claimed was not the finest “team player” during her remarks during the fourth live presentation of News’ Electoral Dysfunction tour in Glasgow.
Commencing with one of the most infamous interviews from the news, Wark said that Emily Maitlis was selected to speak with Prince Andrew because she was Newsnight’s senior anchor at the time.
The November 2019 interview quickly became known as “disastrous” and “excruciating” for the king, who was asked about his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who had been found guilty.
When asked which of the two recent TV shows, Scoop and A Very Royal Scandal, she preferred based on the interview, Wark selected A Very British Scandal by Beth Rigby, Political Editor of News.
Maitlis served as executive producer for the Prime Video miniseries, which debuted earlier this month.
