A image that has surfaced online purports to show Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel being repeatedly stabbed in the head and upper body during the liturgy at the Christ the Good Shepherd church, resulting in at least four injuries from the attack.
The congregation can be seen screaming and running to put an end to it in the image.
According to police, a 15-year-old has been taken into custody and the attack is being investigated as a possible act of terrorism.
